THERAPY, REWRITTEN
A BLOG ABOUT THE DILEMMAS OF LIFE AND HOW TO BETTER FACE THEM
WELCOME,
When you think of therapy what comes to mind?
A person laying on a couch in a stifling room being interrogated about their past?
Think again.
Today, therapy takes many more inviting forms. Talking therapy; art therapy; behavioural therapy; hypnotherapy - to name but a few.
One form of therapy in which I personally seek to rewrite is the simple act of sharing our experiences of mental health and learning from others. The act of speaking honesty is largely cathartic, and the act of sharing your experiences and learning that others can relate is incredibly therapeutic. We can educate ourselves about mental health and at the same time support others through talking about that which once felt unspeakable - the inner workings of our minds; our dark days; our deepest fears; our 'abnormal' traits; our insecurities and that was has been ingrained in us to be seen as weak.
Through this blog I will be providing you with segments on making sense of this thing we call life as I journey through my own experiences of Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and all that comes with this.
As I do so, I will be striving to normalise the often misunderstood concepts of mental health and make available a new, accessible form of therapy, as I journey to one day become a counsellor myself.

In giving this, I ask one thing of you: please, do yourself (and myself) a favour and open up and reach out. Discussion, comments, responses, sharing, queries and requests will be the lifeblood of this blog and its aim to remind one another that we are not alone.
